Unlike a normal digital print – which is available to buy at different sizes – Yauner’s ‘Crop tool’ series has a fixed resolution. Meaning if you want to buy a smaller print – you get a tighter crop of the original image. Yauner is playing with our expectations, playing with the interplay between physical and digital worlds. Not that you get a worse image – in fact the tighter crops really come alive in new ways. So each of the four editions is essentially four works depending on which size you buy.

The series is a further exploration of Yauner’s Night Scanning work – where he captures plants at night using a flatbed scanner. Capturing the purest colours possible with a very shallow depth of field. Scanned a super high resolution these new works are defined by, and play with, that resolution.

Yauner invites you to take your time and celebrate nature – looking longer to see beauty and joy in the world around you.

Printed on 265g high-quality art paper.

About the artist

Freddie’s work explores how the human drive for continual growth has impacted people and the planet. He makes work that celebrates nature, unpicks ideas of progress and explores the cognitive dissonance needed to be a human alive today.

Freddie enjoys holding a mirror up to the world - sometimes quite literally. The work brings people into the unfamiliar, sometimes implicating himself or going to ridiculous lengths to shift viewers’ perspectives. Freddie uses different media for different subjects, coming at things in curious ways to be able to reach a range of audiences.

Current work is focused on Agriculture and food systems. Freddie believes that Art can carry important and urgent ideas and start new conversations - and in doing so is a vital lever for change.

Freddie’s work has been exhibited and collected internationally and is included in several permanent collections, including the Museum of Modern Art, New York.

He lives and works in London.
